About us · the M and the M

Two solicitors, one Victorian terrace, seventeen years on.

M & M Solicitors was incorporated on 2 September 2009 at 34 The Parade, Roath, Cardiff CF24 3AD by Nadeem Majid and Munnaza Majid. The two Ms of the trading name are the Majid surname they share. The Parade is a tree-lined Victorian terrace east of Cardiff city centre, between City Road and Newport Road. Several of the converted townhouses around us are professional offices for solicitors, accountants and surveyors. Walk to Roath Park, the City Road shops, the Heath hospital, and Cardiff University main campus.

Munnaza Majid was a founding director and held the role across three appointment periods before stepping off the board in February 2021. Nadeem Majid continues as managing partner of the active practice. The Law Society Criminal Litigation Accreditation, the Lexcel practice-management mark, and the Legal 500 UK 2021 Leading Firm and Leading Individual citations all sit on the firm.

Best in the business. Always there when you need them for any legal help and expert advice. Thanks to Nadeem and the team.

Specialism · criminal defence and the immigration crossover

Where we take work most high-street firms do not.

The strongest line of the practice is the crossover between serious crime and immigration tribunal work. The two share clientele, the procedure is unforgiving, and the case files run long.

  • Law Society Criminal Litigation Accreditation A specialist accreditation above standard SRA regulation. It is the marker between a firm that does some crime and one that runs the duty-solicitor scheme. We hold it.
  • Encrochat defence Encrochat was the encrypted-phone network the National Crime Agency infiltrated in 2020. The prosecutions involve admissibility challenges, abuse-of-process arguments, and complex disclosure work very few high-street firms take on.
  • POCA confiscation Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 confiscation proceedings follow the main trial and are technically distinct. We take the case through both stages, not just to verdict.
  • Asylum and deportation defence First-tier and Upper Tribunal representation in asylum and immigration appeals. The crossover with our criminal practice is where the firm earns the work others pass on.

FAQ · five questions

Questions we hear at the front desk.

If your question is not here, send it via the enquiry form above. We reply within one working day.

Do you offer a free initial consultation?

For criminal matters, yes. The duty-solicitor scheme covers police-station attendance regardless of means; we then assess legal aid eligibility for the case that follows. For immigration, wills and conveyancing the first telephone enquiry is always free; a formal meeting and file opening attracts a fixed fee that we will quote before you commit.

Is legal aid available for my case?

For most serious criminal cases and for asylum and Home Office appeals, yes, subject to means and merits assessment. We carry out the assessment in-house and apply on your behalf. We will tell you within the first call whether legal aid is likely.

Do you handle police-station call-outs at night and weekends?

Yes. The 07792 482444 line goes directly to the duty solicitor out of hours. We attend Cardiff Bay custody and the surrounding stations across South Wales.

Can I update my will and arrange a power of attorney in the same visit?

Yes. Most of our private-client clients combine the two. We will take the instructions for both, draft the LPA registration alongside the will, and store the executed originals on your behalf.

What is your fixed fee for residential conveyancing?

Our fixed-fee schedule depends on the purchase price band, whether there is a mortgage, and whether the property is freehold or leasehold. We publish the schedule on our fees pages and we will quote in full before opening the file.
